Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, answering a 5 line telephone, preparation and maintenance of medical records, admitting and discharging patients, filling some prescriptions, over the counter sales, mailings, computer operation, financial transactions, minor administrative work, and front office and reception area maintenance.
Responsibilities include assisting the doctors during examinations and procedures. Technicians should be proficient with blood draws, placing catheters, monitoring anesthesia, radiology, laboratory diagnostics and filling prescriptions. Candidate’s should possess strong client communication skills, and be familiar with veterinary terminology and treatment of hospitalized patients.
Veterinary Assistants are responsible for animal handling, medicating, bathing, cleaning, feeding, laundry, waste disposal, and running basic lab work.
