There are 24 corporate-owned veterinary clinics in Washington, DC, and only 7 independent clinics left. Union Veterinary Clinic is proud to be one of them. Family-owned and operated since 2002, we’ve been caring for pets and supporting our community for more than two decades.
Visit us in Capitol Hill or at one of our sister clinics, Dupont Veterinary Clinic and Palisades Veterinary Clinic, and experience the difference of independent care.

When your pet is treated at a veterinary practice that’s not part of a corporate conglomerate, you’ll notice the difference right away. Our veterinarians and staff live in the community we serve, and we’re dedicated to caring for the pets—and the people—who make it special.
Being part of Capitol Hill, with long-time roots in Washington, DC, means we consistently show up for our neighbors and are able to respond to the unique needs of our community. You’ll often find us out in the neighborhood, from hosting pet wellness events to participating in local traditions like the annual H Street Festival.
As your local, family-owned veterinary practice, we believe in building lasting relationships based on trust, compassion, and care that goes beyond the exam room. Every visit is an opportunity to support your pet’s health and strengthen the community we share.
We’re also proud to give back:
At Union Veterinary Clinic, we’re more than your vet—we’re your neighbors, your partners, and your advocates for independent, community-centered care.
Our staff members choose to work for Union Vet—and stay here—because our culture is all about the pets we treat. We are true animal lovers at heart, and that passion shines through in every interaction, from wellness visits to surgical procedures.

It means a lot to us to know what kind of impact we’re having—and we know you want to know about others’ experiences with our veterinary practice, too.
Love what we do? Leave us a review on Google or Yelp — or send us an email to share your experience!
When you bring your pet to Union Vet, parking can be challenging—unless you have some tips to help you navigate the area.
We are located one block from Union Station, between F Street and G Street. Please allow yourself extra time to find legal street parking. The parking area behind our building is PRIVATE and owned by neighborhood businesses. Ticketing and towing will be enforced.
The Julie Fund is a memorial tribute to the former owner of Union Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Julie Giles, who passed away on February 11th, 2009 due to complications from multiple sclerosis. She had a love for all animals and the practice of veterinary medicine.
Gifts donated to the Julie fund will be used to help clients and pets who have limited resources.
To avoid confusion please be sure to click the ‘Donate to Julie Fund’ option on the “Billing” page. Thanks!
